The MUCIVI’s main exhibition spans both floors of the building, with three spaces on each floor. On the upper floor are the Ignorance Space, the Revelation Space, and the Interpretation Space. The rest of the exhibition continues on the lower floor with the Radiance Space, the Agony Space, and finally, the Reinvention Space.
Back on the upper floor, an additional exhibition and conference area complements the museum’s cultural offerings. Currently on display are calligraphies by Bachir Hamzeh in the thuluth and naskh styles, dating back to the 9th century and traditionally used for large engraved inscriptions. Each piece features a verse from the Quran, except for the last one, which presents the motto of the Nasrid princes in Granada (Spain).
With the permanent exhibition (the museum’s main exhibition), visitors are immersed in the very heart of the aspects of Islamic civilizations through six successive rooms that evoke emotions and provoke questions. Accompanied by an audio guide—available in French, German, English, Italian, Arabic, and French Sign Language (on tablet)—visitors are invited to dive into the history of these civilizations through six themes, each representing a different historical period.
